1906 Rover 6hp

This exceptionally original 1906 Rover 6hp Model R is offered to the market following more than 40 years in single ownership, during which time it has remained largely unaltered and carefully preserved. An unmolested and notably complete example, it is ideally suited to participation in prestigious Veteran Car Club events.

In 2019, the Veteran Car Club inspected the car and confirmed that it “appears to be an original and complete entity,” providing strong validation of its authenticity and provenance. Designed by Edmund Lewis, formerly of Daimler, the Rover 6hp was marketed as the “Gentleman’s Light Tourer,” representing a refined development of the earlier 8hp model. A significant surviving example is held in the British Motor Museum, underscoring the model’s historical importance.

This particular car has been cherished by a long-term collector of British motoring heritage for over four decades. Faithfully preserved in its authentic form, it remains true to its only known restoration, carried out in the United States during the 1970s. Importantly, the car is offered with its cherished registration number, adding further desirability.

A rare opportunity to acquire a genuine and highly original piece of early British automotive history, eligible for the world’s most celebrated veteran motoring even
